About The Studio

I started work in the fashion industry twenty years ago, and what originally drew my much younger self to it remains the same today: clothing’s power to shape how we feel and how we are seen.

As a fashion and celebrity stylist, I thrilled at the glamour, the travel, the access, the collaborators, and of course my clients — the chance to work intimately with public women grappling with the same insecurities and uncertainties as the rest of us, only on a much bigger stage. What I enjoyed less were the trappings that celebrity brings, even for those of us there to support rather than to be seen.

Though I left celebrity styling, my conviction has not wavered: that fashion is an underappreciated and relentlessly overlooked social act that women can draw real power and affirmation from.

I now run a private styling practice for women in the midst of personal change or reinvention. The Studio is where I share what I’ve learned as a practitioner and continue to learn as a student of fashion and identity. It’s a place for conversation with fellow creatives, thinkers, experts, and you, where clothing, dressing, and self-presentation get taken seriously. Joyfully seriously.

I paywall very little here. This conversation should be as open as possible. But if the work resonates and you're able to, a paid subscription keeps it going. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.

About Me

I’m an image consultant, speaker, and researcher whose work sits at the intersection of women’s identity, consumption, and style. For more than 15 years, I worked as a fashion and celebrity stylist, dressing women at defining moments, from the Oscars and Golden Globes to global tours and press appearances. I trained under Edward Enninful before building my own roster of clients, styling Alicia Keys, Katie Holmes, Uma Thurman, Rachel Weisz, and Rebecca Hall, among others. My work has been featured in Vogue, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and WWD.

Through this work, I came to see style as a powerful site of self-definition, especially for women navigating moments of change. The most meaningful part of my career has been helping clients through internal shifts, including new chapters in motherhood, reinvention, and visibility.

I founded Laura Jones Studio to bring this deeper, identity-centered approach to a wider community of women. My practice focuses on giving women the tools to articulate who they are becoming and how they want to be seen.

I am currently completing an M.A. in Sociology, where my research focuses on women’s relationships to clothing, identity, and desire. I hold a B.A. from Columbia University and serve on the advisory council of the fashion think tank The New Standard Institute.
